DIY Pool Noodle Projects for the Music Classroom

I absolutely love using pool noodles in my music classroom. My students have benefited from incorporating these into lessons our lessons on steady beat and rhythm. Not only are they colorful and relatively soft, they are budget friendly! (Despite my best efforts, they have seen some wear and tear – but it doesn’t break the bank to replace them!) Besides being plentiful during the spring and summer, they are typically an easy material to work with! Below are a few DIY tutorials for different pool noodle creations for my class and how I use them.

Check out these rhythm spinners! Besides a DIY tutorial, I have listed a few ways I use these in class! They are a great addition to your music centers!

For less than $1/saber, I was able to craft this class set of steady beat sabers! These are a class (and teacher) favorite!

These pool noodle scrapers are the easiest and handiest instrument to DIY! Simply cut into 10-12″ pieces and slice in half! They sound like scrapers!

If you find yourself on a budget – what teacher doesn’t! – and in need of additional instruments or activities, pool noodles for the win!

If you have any more ideas for me, I would love to hear them! Drop a comment below!
